@ WEB DESIGN BY BOWDIDGE MARINE DESIGNS
We have boat plans (both yacht designs, catamaran designs and power designs) for all sizes. From the 12ft Mushulu Dinghy stitch & glue yacht tender to the Oceansky 57 catamaran. We design timber boats, plywood boats, strip plank boats, fibreglass composite boats, steel and aluminum boats to very modern styling for both monohull designs or multihull designs, powerboat or sailboat and in round bilge, multi-chine or radius chine hull forms. Our boat designs are for diverse uses, including sailing dinghies, cruisers, racers and boats for fishing and excursions. All by Westlawn graduate, Mark Bowdidge. Look at the Bosun's Mate 23 and Oceansky 57 for opposite concepts which we have designed.

Marine Designs Working at Tom Fexas Yacht Designs, I found myself working on new luxury power boat designs for companies such as Mikelson yachts, Kadey Krogen, Morgan Yachts, Choey Lee and more, designs with a typical length 55 ft (17 metres) and more. Working in the big boat industry I found to be very challenging and exciting. All the time you are working to keep ahead of the production boat building companies, which meant that you were never on the same part of the project for long. Working laminate schedules, tankage, machinery drawing, arrangement plans, the list of drawings were endless. Working alongside Dave Glasco and Nicholas Di Matteo, the days were long yet very rewarding. Highlights I remember well within the company was, when the various companies from around the world would send in construction photo's of the various stages of construction of the boats being built (as shown) and knowing overall, that you were a part of the team that designed the said vessels.
Unfortunately, with Tom having passed away and then quickly followed with the world wide recession, the big boat market collapsed and contracts dried up. After 30 years of being in business, Tom Fexas Yacht Designs era wound up the last of its contracts and sadly closed its doors forever. |
